what to bring to your long effort
Although water will be provided by the coaches, it is still a good idea
to bring water that you can carry with you. Also, if you are planning on
a workout well over an hour in length, you may also want to bring a sports
drink for when you are finished, and also plan to carry energy bars or
gels to consume during your run.
what to expect on your long effort
starting your long effort
Each long effort will start with a very brief period of stretching as a group.
At least one of the Running Arizona coaches will be available to answer
questions before the listed start time and after the finish time for each
workout. At least one coach will run with the group during the long effort.
When you arrive for your long effort workout, look for the Running Arizona
banner and sign in. We want to be sure that everyone has a safe run, so
please sign in and sign out when you complete your workout.
running your long effort
Your long effort for the week should be run at a conversational pace. What
this means is that you should be able to carry on a conversation as you
run. If you are running alone, singing a song might be more appropriate,
unless of course you have some issues you need to deal with. Your coaches
would be happy to answer any questions you may have about completing your
long effort and your pace.
finishing your long effort
Stretching after your run is a very important part of your training. Your
muscles will be well warmed up from your run and be in better shape for
stretching than they were at the beginning of your run.
PLEASE NOTE: You do NOT need to be a member of Running Arizona to join us for a workout.
You can even bring a friend or two and check us out before signing up if
you want.
