where to run in arizona
Welcome to Running IN Arizona. If you are visiting or looking for a new
place to run in the area, just check out the list of locations below. Directions
are provided from major intersections.
Runners in the Phoenix area have enjoyed running along the pathways that
follow the canal system in the Valley of the Sun. A map of this system
is available at the SRP (Salt River Project) web site. Many of the run
locations listed below utilize these routes along the canals. Just click
on the link below.

Remember to have plenty of water when you go for your run and let someone
know where you will be - and have FUN!
NOTE: Locations are listed in alphabetical order by Arizona city, with the
type of running surface and directions following.
GILBERT
Freestone Park
Hard-packed Dirt along canal system
Directions:
From US 60 & Gilbert Road exit
South on Gilbert to Guadalupe Road
East on Guadalupe to Lindsay Road
South on Lindsay to Freestone Park, which is located on the east side of Lindsay
PHOENIX
Granada Park
Hard-packed Dirt along canal system
From Highway 51 & Glendale/Lincoln exit
East on Glendale/Lincoln
South (right) on 20th Street - one block from expressway
Continue on 20th Street about 2 blocks to Granada Park.
Rose Mofford Park
(AKA: Cave Creek Sports Complex)
Hard-packed Dirt along canal system
From I-17 & Peoria exit
East on Peoria
South (right) on 25th Avenue - first light east of expressway
Continue on 25th Avenue about 2 blocks to the park entrance.
South Mountain Park
Desert Trails & Park Roads
From Baseline Road & Central Avenue
South on Central Avenue to South Mountain Park entrance. Left at first road beyond entrance gate and guard house at park entrance.
SCOTTSDALE
Horizon Park
Desert Trails beyond canal
From Loop 101 & Frank Lloyd Wright exit
East on Frank Lloyd Wright
North (left) on 100th Street - second light east of expressway (92nd Street to the south)
Continue on 100th Street to the park entrance.
TEMPE
Kiwanis Park
Hard-packed Dirt along canal system
From Baseline & Mill
West on Baseline a few hundred yards
South (left) into Kiwanis Park parking lot. This is the parking lot at
the northern end of Kiwanis Park.
