Running Arizona is about having fun while you are training for an upcoming race or just out for a run for your health. If you want to enjoy the benefits of fitness and have fun while running, then this is the running club for you.

Like many others, you probably have undertaken an exercise program at one point in your life only to give up after three weeks or so. Either the program was not designed for you or there was no motivation to help you succeed. Or perhaps the program was just not fun. At Running Arizona we will tailor a training program around YOU and your life. We will develop a program to fit your schedule and help you develop the motivation necessary to achieve your goals - whether that is just completing an upcoming race or improving the time from your last event. Running Arizona will get you there by providing a training atmosphere at group workouts and other events designed to be fun for you and your Running Arizona teammates and friends.

Each person who trains with Running Arizona will receive the following:
  • written training schedules
    You will receive schedule designed to fit your life and to help you succeed. If you only have 5 hours a week to devote to running, then we will develop a schedule that makes the most of your time.
  • coach-led weekly group workouts
    Your running coach will oversee the weekly long efforts and track workouts, answer any questions, and even run with you.
  • coach available at group workouts, via phone and email
    In order for you to get the most of Running Arizona we need you to do us a favor: Keep in touch with your coach. Ask as many questions as you want. Our goal is to provide a response as soon as possible. And let us know of any training issues - injury, illness, hectic work schedule, etc. - that come up, so that we can help you work through them. If necessary, we will even let you take your coach to dinner to answer your questions.
  • weekly emails from your coach
    Receive weekly email notes from Running Arizona with tips on training, a schedule of upcoming events and words to keep you motivated!
  • discounts on massage and physical therapy
    Through our network of health professionals, we have arranged for expert advice and treatment by some of the best in Arizona - all at a discount to you.
  • discounts at local merchants serving the running community
    We have also arranged discounts for Running Arizona members at various merchants who will help you meet your running needs.
  • regularly scheduled clinics & seminars
    Our network of experts in fields related to running and fitness will attend group workouts from time to time and share their knowledge and information with you. A schedule of upcoming clinics can be found on the workouts page.

PLEASE NOTE: You do NOT need to be a member of Running Arizona to join us for a workout. You can even bring a friend or two and check us out before signing up if you want.

meet the running arizona's coaches

The coaches for Running Arizona have a great deal of experience. They have completed more than a dozen marathons and countless other road races. Along with the personal experience of completing running events, they have developed training schedules for runners with little or no experience, to runners who have qualified for the Boston Marathon.

Richard Stark, founder of Running Arizona, will create your running schedule and send you weekly email messages to keep you training and motivated all season long.

Jon Saul, best known for running in those funky running shoes which look like bare feet, is becoming even better known as the guy who puts in a lot of miles running with Running Arizona members at workouts and tries to run with everyone on race day. Jon will be running all the workouts this coming season.
